Description
Two Humpback Whales sit momentarily on the surface, while one strains water through its baleen after a group lunging seen on the California Pacific Coast. Having previously paid a good amount of money for a spot on whale-watching boats, only to see a single bump and fin of a passing whale, I consider myself very lucky while on the coast in my past, when I walked out on a typical fishing pier, and jokingly asked the fishermen present "ever see any whales here....."
Beware of the replies you may hear, because you may be staying longer than you had originally thought! That day I saw a few whales, of course too far away for a snap. Returning the next day, I got this uncropped memory standing on that same fishing pier! Now away from the West Coast, when I DO ever return to the West Coast, WE will be returning to this spot for more images and these unique chances of seeing a whale "up close". See the fish escapees?

Great shot! Never hurts to ask the locals for insider info at any location you visit...
Tony Lee replied:
Yes, in this case, the info was very helpful but in other occasions, it was not. Depends on the "local" and the place! Thanks again Linda!
