Description
Probably no one would believe how this upper Niagara River fire scene was captured, but here's the nitty-gritty: My wife Sheila and I were taking a walk when we came upon this scene but before it got to this stage. We noticed the clouds, but of course the color wasn't there yet, BUT there was the potential! We even pulled out our smartphones and began to snap a few pixs.... noticing the glassy waters, the overhead clouds, and how a few ducks or geese were in the water swimming by...
As you can probably guess, WE both ran to get our cameras and tripods, and when we returned so many minutes later, the sky above was already beginning a slow burn. I've probably seen over a thousand sunsets, and not too many sunrises... but am hoping I will be lucky enough to see a thousand or more in my future.
This was a sunset glorious enough to inspire HOPE, and I dedicate this golden moment to Sharon Mayhak, who posted a memory recently of her "happy place". Everyone needs a place to visit, to stay in, and a place to relax.... where one can feel happy, content, to be safe and wanted, to have memories and to build future memories. This one's for you Sharon!
Y'all please stay safe out there!

How blessed we all are that you and your wife ran to go get your cameras, having a hunch that this beautiful sunset would appear!
Tony Lee replied:
Not always are we so "blessed". We have seen the color often and when we finally get out there, the colors are bland! It's a guessing game everyday but sometimes we are lucky, as you see here! Thanks much Deborah!

Eye candy for us meteorologists. Great sky, Tony. - Mike (V/F)
Tony Lee replied:
I cannot forecast the weather, but I know a rain-filled cloud when I see one, but fortunately, this is not filled with water! Thanks much Michael!

Magnificent photograph, Tony! And a wonderful backstory, too. May you witness many thousands more in the years to come. V/F
Tony Lee replied:
Thanks much Douglas! If I live to witness another 1000 years of sunsets, I wouldn't be able to carry a camera any longer!!! hahahaa Thanks again!
